Scott and Emma bought the Royal Oak from Charles Wells in October 2013 after it closed its doors to the public in March 2009 we believe. During the time of its closure the pub fell into disrepair and a complete refurbishment was needed to save her.
Scott has his own building company and Emma has been in the pub trade before so they both knew the hard work and dedication needed to bring The Royal Oak back from the brink. Its not been a quick or easy road but hopefully you'll agree its been totally worth the wait!
The building is at least 115 years old, we aren’t able to date the barn but it survived the fire of 1901 following which the rest of the pub had to be completely rebuilt. We have the newspaper clippings and a photo from after the fire up in the pub.
